Preliminary start for MGC 2008

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

It has been a few months since my final post from the 2007 show. Well, in the midst of August (and job hunting), I am starting to think about the 2008 show.

Things to think about for MGC 2008:

Name change: Yes, I’m a little sick of the Underdog name. I don’t mind it, but people seem to associate Underdog with junk. So, this is under debate. I may ask to just change it to my site name, “Ozyr’s Video Game Emporium.” That would be better in my book!

Network game: With Quake doing so well last year, this leads to questions. Should I just run Quake again in 2008, or run a new network game? And if I run a different game, which one. I’m seriously thinking of running one of the Mac games based on the Quake engine, like Hexen II or Sin Gold. I could also redo Marathon, updated for OS X, but this would involve some hardware costs. For now, I’m thinking on this one – plus would have to run some tests (once again).

-Atari 5200: This will be in, more than likely (unless things change dramatically – and they may). I still need to send this off to get video upgraded.

Other than that, I still have some gaps to fill, as things from the last two years will not be returning this year. These include the Arcadia, Atari 7800 and the Bally.
Things that may return, but I am undecided on: Intellivision, Odyssey 2, and the Timex/Sinclair 1500.

That is it for this starter on the 2008 show. More to come next month…
