Happy Holidays and all that stuff

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Hope everyone had a good Xmas day. And of course, have fun on the New Year day coming up real soon.

As for the UC, I’ve actually ordered a few RAM chips to test out running OS X on the old iMacs (like 333MHz or slower). I want to see how these old champs handle OS X, and if they could run an updated version of Quake or not. It is just a test, as I don’t plan on updating my whole fleet of computers this year. But, if it works, I would probably run an updated version of Quake in 2010 (it if works of course).

Other than that, I’ve been going nuts trying to update a computer for my sister. After days, I finally found the culprit – one stupid little file (a plug-in) that for some reason the new machine did not like. Thanks to the Internet for that one, which is where I found the tip on removing the plug-in so the program would actually run (instead of crashing each and every time).

Oh well, have a good New Years Eve. Don’t drink and drive (I won’t).

Starting preparation (finally) for 2009 UC display at MGC

Its not a big start, but it is a start, and that is where I begin.

It is now official, Quake (running on Classic OS 9), will return once again for the Underdog Chamber. This will be the final time though – I’m calling this the ‘Final Curtain Call’ for Quake. Not that I hate the game or anything, I just want something new. But that will have to wait till my job situation stabilizes (or get another job). So this will be the third year of doing Quake on a Macintosh LAN. The only difference from the last two years, is that I am going to add one more Mac, thus creating an 8-player Quake LAN. I’ll need to pick out a system and put OS 9 and Quake on it. Plus I’ll have to dig out the stuff from last year, and make sure nothing died while in storage.

Other than that, I’m officially declaring that the Odyssey2 will be in the show too. I still want to video mod it, but either way, it will be there. The Gamecube will return as well, and I’m bringing back the Vectrex.

Systems that I’m contemplating for the ’09 show are: G7400, Apple //gs, Apple //e (more than likely on that one), Timex/Sinclair ZX81/TS1000, Bally (Astrocade), Arcadia 2001, TI 99/4A, and the Intellivision. Time will tell which systems may the show!

December 19, 2008 is Underdog Day!

Yeah, it is official, as it is on my Calendar. And who said people don’t appreciate the Underdog’s of the world!

December 2008 update on the UC

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

This might be my only post for December… 🙁

As far as show work, I’ve been too busy for the last five weeks with homework for my college classes. Way too much homework. It’ll all be done this Tuesday though, and I’m having a private party (of one) that night. Pizza, Custard, and watching some Blu-Ray movies on my big HD TV and updated sound system! Yeah! 😉

Other than that, I still have done no work for the 2009 show. At this point in time, I plan on doing the UC for 2009, I just don’t know to what capacity. I want to get back to my normal size, and will try my best. That is all I can say for now. Back to my homework (it isn’t Tuesday night yet).
