Here I am once again, posting the NPD game sales. A tad late again. Not sure why I’ve been doing this lately.
As for May, 2009, game sales are down again from last year. I can still understand this, given the economy situation. Still, a decent month for sales, with a good amount of new games hitting the top ten!
NPD figures for May 2009 are:
Hardware:
- NDS = 633,500 units sold! (390,000 of which were DSi)
- Wii = 289,500
- 360 = 175,000
- PS3 = 132,000
- PS2 = 117,000
- PSP = 100,400
Software (top games for May 2009):
- UFC 2009 Undisputed – 360 = 679,600 units sold
- Wii Fit – Wii = 352,800
- EA Sports Active Bundle – Wii = 345,800
- UFC 2009 Undisputed – PS3 = 334,400
- Infamous – PS3 = 175,900
- Pokemon Platinum – DS = 168,900
- Mario Kart Wii – Wii = 158,300
- Punch Out!! – Wii = 156,900
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged Ed – 360 = 120,700
- Wii Play with Wii Remote – Wii = 109,800
Interesting to see that a good wrestling game still can make the top ten. EA Sports Active for the Wii is off to a good start, and from what I’ve heard, it is a rather good workout game. I was a bit surprised Punch Out didn’t do better, but I’m not sure when it came out during May. Other than that, a nice mixture of game for all the top systems.
