Quake now 7-player

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I took a break from studying to work on that strawberry G3 iMac (code named Alice). I decided to take the hard drive out (and put in a fresh battery too – almost forgot to), and clone if off of an identical iMac (same specs and all), which worked rather well. I rebuild the desktop, tweaked a few settings, and Quake worked as expected. Thus, I can officially say that there is now a 7-player Quake LAN for the Underdog Chamber for 2010. I will doubtfully be able to increase that number until after next week Tuesday, due to school and work constraints. Thus for now, I need to get back to studying (after getting some sleep first though).

Mouse driver issues

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I had a little bit of time to try to get the Strawberry iMac working with Quake. I got the game onto the system, but was not successful at getting the mouse driver for a two-button mouse to work. The driver kept crashing the system, so I’ll have to dig around and see what’s up, at a later time though. Worse comes to worse, I either try to clone over a working OS 9 disk, or I scrap the one iMac, and go with a B&W G3 unit. Time will tell on this one, which I’m running short on.
