Ramblings (Underdog Chamber)

Work should start up soon again on Invisibly Boy (and other old iMacs I have). I finally got a set of 8 newer (but still old) hard drives for use in my old G3 iMacs. I plan to upgrade the majority of the iMacs I have, as the drives inside are just not large enough for the semi-secret project I’m working on for the Underdog Chamber exhibit for 2011. I got another set of RAM chips too, to bump another older G3 iMac to 512 MB (max for the tray loaders).

At this exact time though, I need to get back to studying for the next big test at school, so any iMac work in on hold. Still nice to get the drives (thanks Matt). That is one more step out of the way.

Oh, and I got another bezel for the slot load iMacs, which I plan to put into the Dalmation iMac that got shattered late last year. Hope to get that unit back together for the ’11 show!

iMac Bezel – New (older) Hard Drives

Yup, MGC is set at the Sheraton, Brookfield once again for 2011. The dates will be announced soon, but expect it to be late March of 2010. I’ll post the exact dates when they are officially announced.

I still have not completed the 2010 recap, but I did update Invisible Boy (G3 iMac) from it’s original 233 MHz speed to 333 MHz. Not a big thing, but it is from 233 to 333. This is part of my secret plan for next year. The machine is already maxed out at 512 MB of RAM, so I just need a bigger hard drive now (bigger than the 4 GB inside). Something like 20 GB would be great.

Ah, working with old equipment, there is nothing like it. This is especially true when it works!
