Happy Holidays 2011

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

To gamers of all types, hope your holiday season is a great one, and hopefully you get something new to play with (old or new school alike). Don’t forget what the season is about though, not just gifts, but so much more.

Have a good one! :)

Steve Jobs – R.I.P.

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Rather saddened to hear the news of the passing of Steve Jobs late on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011. While I won’t deny that I was not a total fan of Jobs (I did not agree with all his decisions), I am grateful for his vision, and will miss his presence at Apple. Here’s to his insight and mark that he made on the computer industry, and may Apple live on in that light!

I will probably do a small tribute to Steve, when the next MGC show comes around next spring.

Summer ’11 over…

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

Well Summer 2011 is almost over, with school starting up already. This years summer seemed to just fly by, with far too many projects left unfinished, which will be move to next year’s to-do-list.

I’m in the process of possibly moving to another hosting company again, but that is still under debate. The reason is my own, simple as that. I’d also like to revamp the entire site too, but that will take lots of time.

For now, enjoy the rest of the summer, and hopefully I’ll get around to those MGC photos and some updates for the 2012 show.

My Father… R.I.P. (07/14/11)

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Thomas Flemming – departed this Earthly domain on July 14th…

The loss of a parent is a difficult time, but I can honestly state that I understand this situation a lot more than I expected too. Part of it is due to my own beliefs, in the fact that death is part of life. You cannot have life without death, and I fully accept that simple fact. For my father, death was a release from the suffering in the last few months of life, and he is free of that now.

This does not diminish the fact that I feel like a part of me is missing, to what capacity I cannot say at this time. I will miss my father’s advise, the countless times he helped me through various issues in life, and most of all how he truly loved his family. He instilled within me the value of doing a good job, in getting it done properly, wether at work or at home. Indirectly he taught me that what I believe in is important, even if others may not see things my way. In this way he was more open to my own unique way of seeing the world, and I’m glad that he accepted that, even if he did not fully follow my vision of life.

Deep down inside, my dad was a very caring person, even if it didn’t always show this on the surface. He cared about a lot of people, even those he barely knew, and in this world that is something special. There is no way to count how many times he has helped various family members and friends, with advise, support, and simple put, love, which he showed in his own special way. Plus he had a special fondness for children. My sister and I when we were younger, and my nieces later in his life, all of which he loved dearly.

I don’t have too many memories of my childhood, but from the pictures I’ve seen recently, you can see that caring look in his eyes. But even without many childhood memories, I always felt safer with dad around, and that is one thing I will miss – at least in an earthly regard. I know his spirit – or energy as I prefer to call it – will still be there, watching over us, of this I have no doubt.

Even in his last year of life, when his health was failing fast, he still would show concern for myself and other family members. In this alone, he still taught that one truth, that family matters most of all. Through bad and good time, I’ve always got my family!

(Too everyone else out there who has lost a father – may you never forget the good memories)

Wasted money…

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

After buying an old game system a few months back, I finally got around to testing it today. It turned out to be a frustrating and disappointing hour or so. System does power up, but poor signal to TV (and I mean very poor), and the two joysticks are messed up big time. So I’ve got some old classic games that I can see on a screen but can’t play due to back controllers. This is the part of collecting old stuff that I do not like at all. Buying stuff online is too much hit or miss. On the bright side, I have some games for this system. On the down side, I still need a fully working system. Guess I’ll have to possibly borrow again, or maybe just give up on some of the older systems. I do get tired of loosing money this way (but have found some great things over the years too – this is just the dark side of collecting old things).

In case any few readers out there are wondering what gaming console this is, I won’t say for now. Just know that it is old and not 100% functional.

Forward to a better day (with some stuff that actually works).

Time flies…

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Time sometimes goes by too quickly, or so it seems. I still have yet to put up any type of 2011 MGC recap, and have not yet posted anything for next years show (at least of substance). Things are in the works, as my secret lab is running some equipment right now. Soon I hope to remedy the recap, and post new information. Till then, I’m still putting the final wraps on the UC 2011 page, recapping what happened for the 2011 UC area.

Be back soon, hopefully…

MGC 2011 recap, eventually…

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Been super busy with school and work. I still plan on doing a recap of the entire show, or at least what I saw of it, but it’ll have to wait till near the end of May. Till then, game on.

Elisabeth Sladen (aka Sara Jane Smith) passed away 04/19/11!

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Found this hard to believe myself, since she was only 63, but Elisabeth Sladen passed away on 04/19/11! She was one of my favorite actors on Doctor Who, classic and new shows, and she will be missed. :(
(And yeah, this kind of doesn’t fit my UC blog, but I know lots of gamers that like Dr. Who – and I do too – thus the post).

You can see the official BBC bulletin on their site.

Theme update

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Just another quickie here, but I went and finally (after too much time), updated the ‘theme’ of Ramblings to have that ‘green and gold [yellow]‘ look (and if you want it to be like WI football colors, that is your choice). That way, it matches (to an extent) the look of the UC area on the MGC site. I choose green a while back, and now it is here too.

Still too much…

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Just checking in. Still busy with school work and other things. I hope to get some stuff done Friday still, as I need to get more stuff ready (just over a month to go). Update coming soon (I’ve pretty much got things picked out, just need to test and may sure stuff is working).

later…
