NPD February 2009 – Nintendo remains on top

This is the first time I’m posting this information on my Ramblings blog, which I used to put in another blog. That one is going away though, and since I do video game stuff, I figured I’d post this here once a month. Why? Because I want to, simple as that.

The sales figures for February are pretty much in the order they have been in for a while, at least for hardware sales. The Wii and DS still dominate, with the 360 close behind. Then you get the PS3, the PSP, and lastly the old PS2.

NPD figures for February 2009 are:
Hardware:

    Wii = 753,000 units sold!
    NDS = 588,000
    360 = 391,000
    PS3 = 276,000
    PSP = 199,000
    PS2 = 131,000

Software (top games for February 2009):

    Wii Fit – Wii = 644,000 units sold
    Street Fighter IV – 360 = 446,000
    Street Fighter IV – PS3 = 403,000
    Wii Play with Wii Remote – Wii = 386,000
    Killzone 2 – PS3 = 323,000
    Mario Kart Wii – Wii = 263,000
    Call of Duty: World at War – 360 = 193,000
    Mario Kart – DS = 145,000
    New Super Mario Bros – DS = 144,000
    Guitar Hero: World Tour – Wii = 136,000

I was rather surprised to se Wii Fit at the #1 game spot, not that it is a bad thing. Street Fighter, I’ve never been much into that type of game, but it obviously sells well. The rest of the software chart is a nice mix of all of the systems.
